Clergy and Community Leaders Unite and March for Peace in the Bronx

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Invited are Community and Faith Leaders from all denominations to march for peace. Masks and social distancing are required. On Saturday, December 12, 2020, at 1 PM, the rally will start at Grand Concourse & Mount Eden in the Bronx, and the march will end at the Bronx Borough Courthouse, 265 East 161 Street, The Bronx, NY 10451.

 

New York City Police Department reported there were 115 shootings last month compared to 51 in
November of 2019. There is a surge of violence in 2020. Marion Frampton, President, TBS New

Direction, says, “We must do something about the violence because the Bronx is getting hit one of the
hardest. I want clergy of all denominations to come together to bring attention to and help find a solution to this problem.”

 

So far, many churches and organizations have answered the call. Some of the groups participating in

the march are Trinity Memorial Baptist Church, Interfaith Center of USA, Celtic Cross Old Catholic

Church, United Christian Baptist Church, National Action Network Arts and Culture Committee, Peace

December, National Latino Peace Officers Association, International Human Rights Commission,

African Diaspora For Justice and others.

 

Rev. Phil Hargrow, President, The New York Chapter of United in Peace Foundation, stated it’s our job to take to the streets to protest gun violence and promote peace. “We aren’t going to allow violence to
become the new normal in our communities.”
